Summer: The Pitta Season.

Ayurveda is the Sister Science of Yoga.
It sets a foundation on how to live holistically.
One of the major principles is eating seasonally.
In Ayurveda, there are 3 seasons: Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Though it’s important to eat according to your doshic constitution, eating seasonally is just as important for balancing out the season. Pitta dominates the summer. In most parts of the Northern Hemisphere, Pitta Season starts roughly mid spring and extends until early fall.

When Pitta is kept in check, it’s a great season for focused productivity, discipline and passion. But when out of balance, it can cause overheating, irritation, anger and skin issues. Though it’s important to eat according to your doshic constitution, eating seasonally is just as important for balancing out the season.

Because Summer is the season of Pitta.
It’s important to eat cooling, water-filled fruits and vegetables.
It’s no coincidence that nature provides cooling foods in the summertime.
That’s why eating seasonally is so important and natural.
